I don’t think that it’s true that the pilots were trying to land on the highway. They had absolutely no control after the collision. I don’t recall seeing any reference to that the NTSB report. They crashed where their trajectory took them.

For the sake of clarity, the views captured in this video look across the Mississippi River toward what is now called St. Anthony Main (originally the City of St Anthony) located on the East bank of the river, the predecessor of Minneapolis. The video is taken from the West Bank of the Mississippi in downtown Minneapolis, but the city itself isn’t pictured, as that would be behind the vantage point of the videographer.

Did you and Sarah notice a similarity of the Devils Postpile to Devil's Tower in northeast Wyoming on your adventure. I have always been impressed by how many places he has his name attached to.. I don't know if was fear of the devil or the fact that people back then felt that they were running out of clever names for new and unusual places. Great show about an area that I always wanted to visit but my youth and finances ran out before I could make it happen. Stay curious and adventurous you two

Washburn and Crosby did the marketing and competed in Paris, France to win the GOLD METAL. Using that as the slogan why cook with any other flour than the one that won the GOLD, The very smart men were part of the business community that invested heavy alongside Hill the Railroad tycoon, Cargill and McMillian, who had world knowledge and traveling from to Europe. Someone started the Minneapolis CLUB and wanted to create the biggest Milling Center using free river power. To replace the MILL that blew up THE MEN traveled to and hired people to work for the BEST FRENCH mills to document everything in writing. After FIVE years the spy came to America to work for Pillsbury company. Washburn had a meeting with over 13 other mill owners and the Minneapolis Business CLUB. The WHITE MILLING Owners realized they had "misappropriated" the French and others technology and GAVE it FREELY to the other millers to jump start the INDUSTRY. Cargill Built elevators across the farm land across the mid west and the great buffalo hunt opened the land to farmers that after the Civil WAR came to Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, KANSAS etc. The farmers needed a market and MINNEAPOLIS benefitted from all the growth of the American Destiny. The reason WCCO started was it was Washburn, Crosby promotional to push GOLD METAL and other products to EVERYONE. In 1971 WCCO and marketing of CEREAL was a continuation of LIFE. The 31 mills that were build used the "STOLEN" French and Belgium technology and the corrupt city officials allowed it as long as the mill was built in Minneapolis. They understood why Winnipeg Ontario thrived in the harsh winter environment and it was trade. The 1880's saw many woman, people of color come to Minneapolis and THRIVE. The Munsingwear company had the farmers wife's sew underwear and shirts in the winter to sell based on the RIVER along with trappers with furs. The Jewish business people had northeast and thrived like Cohens and the Kreylitz Industries. The St Paul had stockyards to compete with Kansas and Chicago. The great American migration and farm happened and succeeded because the farmers had a place to ship their WHEAT, Corn, Soybeans. Like the Railroad hiring the best carpenters from every country to build rail cars, the best ideas on MILLING came to Minneapolis to find funding and technology made available. Ask yourself why there was no more explosions after that? Dayton turned to marketing the clothes and perfumes to all the workers leading to TARGET today. That explosion had the old white guys ask how do we prevent injury in the future and create business that will succeed for the next 100 years. Today a picture of Senator Schumer "Grilling" raw hamburgers with a cheese slice on it RAW. The whole sick DC gang has to go. Every democrat in office needs to GO. They have lost it.

My grandparents left Poland in 1913 because of pogroms and settled in Belgium. I did not know about American millers and Herbert Hoover proving flour as part of a humanitarian effort to Belgium during the first world War. My family certainly survived as a result. History is full of surprises. That kind of blew my mind.

When I was in High School in the '90s that whole place was abandoned. We used to hang out on the roof of the building with the water towers. We even spent the night up there a few times. The burned out part was called "the Ruckus". I once climbed the Gold Metal Flour sign and stood in the "O" in Gold. I cringe now every time I drive by that sign, lol. Also, you can get into the old intakes still today. The entrance is right by the stone Arch bridge. You need a raft and bravery though.

This video is cool. Thank you for so much information! China Town is very historic in the old west as Chinese came here as indentured servants and worked on the railroad. When emancipation came, they did not get any rights or laws to protect them, except their children if born on US soil. And I bet that was a fight. History is so interesting. No one should ever want to erase it.
